How did I Learn to Swim?

Everything was packed, the food, the clothes, everything we needed and we might need. We were ready to go on the picnic at the beach. Since it was my first time, I was very excited. We reached the beach. "Yes, we're here," I jumped with joy. At least I saw the beach which my eyes have been hungry for a long time. When I saw it, I was satisfied so I started to calm down. I sat on the shore watching the waves come and go.
The day before, we planned to go there. At first, my father refused but he was later convinced. We prepared everything. We were all excited, especially me. I only thought of going there and seeing the beach. I did not listen to everything they said.
When we reached the beach, everyone was busy doing their thing. But for me, since my eyes were satisfied, I sat calmly and watched the waves move to and fro. Since I was six years old that time, I wanted to swim on the water but, of course, I couldn't so i didn't.
It was noontime, the sand I was sitting on was getting hot so I went to the wet part of the shore, and it was cool in there. A very big wave came, I was amazed of the size so I shouted "WOW!" not knowing that it could reach me. It splashed on me and the water entered my mouth. It was very salty.
Since I was already wet, I continued to take a bath in the sea. First, I went to the shallow part and the waves threw me to the shore. I thought that if I go further, the waves will be weaker so I did, it was right. I reached the deep part and began sinking. I panicked, kicking as hard as I could so I could reach the shore. I failed and drowned. My cousin was swimming nearby and he saw me. He swam as fast as he could until he reached me. He took my hand and pulled me until we reached the shore. My cousin was a good swimmer so I begged him to teach me how to swim.
My cousin taught me the basics first, how to float, the movements of the hands and feet. I tried to master those but it was hard. Next, he taught me the crawl stroke. I mastered the basics in two months until I became a bit good. Swimming is really hard to perfect but if you are a fast learner, it's easy. Now, I just know how to swim but I'm still not really good at it.
